How To Train

Altitude training is one of the most widely used applications for Spokane endurance sports, such as long-distance running, cross-country skiing, cycling, triathlons, and swimming. Exercising at a moderate altitude without preparation can affect your ventilation, heart rate, stroke volume, plasma volume, and general maximal aerobic power by as much as 15% to 20%. By acclimating over multiple weeks, your red blood cell count will likely go up as well as your V02 max. Work up to an altitude of 8,500 to 10,000 feet to elicit adaptations, such as an increased V02 max, lactate threshold, and average power of cyclists.
